After a detailed evaluation and a CT scan, it was evident that the fracture had caused an impacted fragment leading to a loss of joint congruity. If untreated, this could have resulted in severe consequences such as loss of finger function, chronic pain, and arthritis.
๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐: โ A small incision was made on the side of the injured finger. โ A tunnel was created to access the impacted fragment, which was carefully realigned. โ A cancellous bone graft was harvested from the distal radius (wrist bone) and used to fill the tunnel. โ An image intensifier confirmed the smooth reconstruction of the joint surface. โ A screw was used as a buttress to prevent future collapse of the fragment. Post-surgery, the patient was advised to start finger movement immediately to avoid stiffness and ensure faster recovery. After two months, the fracture had completely healed, and the patient regained full movement of his finger. ๐ He is now back on the cricket field, doing what he loves the most! This case highlights the importance of timely and expert orthopedic intervention to restore function and quality of life.
