Dr Priyadarshi Amit shares explains about the Pectoralis Major tendon injury and shares the story of a patient who underwent surgery for his pectoralis major tendon tear. “Pectoralis Major is a muscle in the chest, also called breast muscle. It can get sometime injured especially in weightlifters while doing bench press. It can cause pain, asymmetry in chest contour, can cause weakness. So, we got a patient who presented to us with similar features. He had a sudden pop while during bench press. He developed tear in the pectoralis major tendon. So we did surgery using endobuttons, we fixed the tendon back to the bone. He was seen in the clinic in 3 months. He was very happy with the procedure. It was not painful, he had returned to weight-lifting as well. You can see the contour was pretty similar on both side and when you look more closely on the scar, the scar had healed well. He had gone back to weight lifting again. Later on he continued weightlifting and he won the UK BFF championship in one year.”
