The biceps muscle lies in the front of the arm. It inserts into the upper part of one of the forearm bone (radius). It assists in bending of the elbow. A rupture of the lower end of biceps musclefrom its insertion site (distal biceps tendon) is common in people involved in heavy manual work, or sports such as weightlifting or bodybuilding. It leads to an obvious deformity in the arm along with associated loss of strength. This is poorly tolerated in young and active adults when your surgeon will recommend surgical repair of the distal biceps tendon.
