𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 | 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐱 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐎𝐑𝐈𝐅 | 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐲 In this video, we share the journey of a young cricket enthusiast who sustained a comminuted fracture of the middle phalanx in his middle finger during a game. After a detailed evaluation and a CT scan, it was evident that the fracture had caused an impacted fragment leading to a loss of joint congruity. If untreated, this could have resulted in severe consequences such as loss of finger function, chronic pain, and arthritis.
𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞: ✅ A small incision was made on the side of the injured finger. ✅ A tunnel was created to access the impacted fragment, which was carefully realigned. ✅ A cancellous bone graft was harvested from the distal radius (wrist bone) and used to fill the tunnel. ✅ An image intensifier confirmed the smooth reconstruction of the joint surface. ✅ A screw was used as a buttress to prevent future collapse of the fragment. Post-surgery, the patient was advised to start finger movement immediately to avoid stiffness and ensure faster recovery. After two months, the fracture had completely healed, and the patient regained full movement of his finger. 🌟 He is now back on the cricket field, doing what he loves the most! This case highlights the importance of timely and expert orthopedic intervention to restore function and quality of life.
