Acromio-clavicular joint dislocation

The acromio-clavicular joint is a joint connecting the collarbone (clavicle) to  part of the shoulder blade (acromion). This can get separated (dislocation) due to a sports related injury or an accidental fall. It causes pain along with difficulty in movement of the shoulder.

Most of the time this injury does not warrant surgery, and your surgeon will offer you symptomatic relief with painkillers. However, in extreme degree of dislocation, especially in young patients, surgical reconstruction of acromio-clavicular joint (ACJ reconstruction) will be advised.
