An acute or chronic dislocation of theacromio-clavicular joint is surgically treated with repair (acute cases), or reconstruction (chronic cases) of the supporting ligaments between the collar bone and shoulder blade (coracoclavicular ligament and acromio-clavicular ligament). This is performed using a combination of arthroscopic and open surgery. Your surgeon will perform the reconstruction using a synthetic ligament device such as dog-bone (acute cases) and LARS ligament (chronic cases).
