A fracture of the shoulder blade is relatively uncommon. It may result from an accident or fall. Inthe majority of cases the fracture will heal satisfactorily. However, in certain conditions such as a fracture involving the joint (glenoid fracture), it may cause instability, pain, or poor shoulder function. Your surgeon will organize advanced imaging in form of CT scan to assess the fracture. You may be advised to undergo surgical fixation of the fracture if it is likely to compromise shoulder function later.
