The lateral collateral ligament is one of the stabilizing structures on the outer (lateral) aspect of the elbow joint. In acute injury to the ligament, it is repaired back to its previous attachment site with the help of sutures and anchors. In chronic cases, the ligament is reconstructed using either a synthetic graft or a tendon graft taken from another part of your body. You will be advised supervised physiotherapy protocol following the surgery. You will be expected to return to full function in about three months with return to your sports in six to nine months.
