The ulnar nerve courses along inner (medial) aspect of the elbow joint through a tunnel bounded by bone and fascia (cubital tunnel). Occasionally, it gets compressed along its course in the cubital tunnel due to extrinsic factors, affecting the nerve function. It causes pain, tingling, or reduced sensation or weakness in ring and little fingers. Ulnar nerve instability involves subluxation of the nerve from behind to the front of the elbow on bending of the elbow (flexion), causing similar symptoms. You will be investigated with nerve conduction study and ultrasound. Initially, you will be advised non-operative treatment in form of activity modification and physical therapy. In case of non-resolving symptoms, you will be offered surgical release (Cubital tunnel release) or nerve transposition.
