Elbow arthrodesis

Elbow arthrodesis or fusion of elbow joint is required for joint destruction which cannot be reconstructed as in infection, failed replacement, neuromuscular dysfunction, or instability. This procedure is aimed at providing painless stable joint however with no movement at the joint. In this procedure, your surgeon will use a metal implant (plate) to secure the joint in acceptable position. He might also take piece of bone from your pelvis or a commercially available graft to augment the fusion.
