Elbow instability

The elbow joint is supported by bony architecture and the band of soft tissue on its either side called collateral ligaments (Medial collateral ligament and Lateral collateral ligament). The ligaments can tear acutely during trauma to the elbow (fall or sports injury) or can be rendered non-functional due to repeated micro-injury as in sports. It can lead to instability (sense of give way) and pain along with functional limitation. You will be advised surgical repair in cases of acute injury or reconstruction if conservative treatment including physiotherapy fails in chronic injuries.
